Charitable Contributions/Activities

Charities/programs that POOLCORP donates to and is involved with include:

  • POOLCORP holds an Annual Golf Tournament and the proceeds benefit the St. Tammany Food Bank.
  • Heart Walk—POOLCORP raised more than $10,000 for the American Heart Association by participating in the 3-mile Heart Walk this year. POOLCORP’s Stewardship Committee and Human Resources Department held raffles and other fundraisers to support the Heart Walk and POOLCORP matched all of the money earned. 2011 marks the third year that POOLCORP has been involved with the American Heart Association.
  • Jean Thursday at Corporate—Each Thursday, employees are encouraged to pay $1 to wear jeans to work for the day. Each quarter, the Stewardship Committee chooses a different charity to donate this collection to. POOLCORP matches all employee contributions to each charity.
  • Food Drives are held every year prior to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to benefit the Covington Food Bank as well as the Samaritan Center.
  • United Way—Employees are given the option to make tax-free donations to the United Way from their paychecks.
  • New Heights Therapeutic Riding—Therapeutic horse-back riding benefitting children and adults with physical, emotional and learning disabilities.
  • Monster Mash—A Halloween, festival-style event benefitting the St. Tammany Parish Hospital’s Parenting Center. Children and families are given an opportunity for a fun and safe alternative to trick-or-treating.
  • LSU Lallie Kemp Medical Center—An acute care hospital whose primary mission is the medically indigent. Lallie Kemp provides healthcare to all citizens of Louisiana and accepts Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and self-pay patients.
  • Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center—A multi-site, community-owned oncology facility located in Louisiana whose mission from its inception has been to provide the highest quality radiation therapy and compassionate support to all patients and their families, regardless of ability to pay.
  • Mary Payton’s Miracle Foundation—Mary Payton is a young girl that was diagnosed with Late Infantile Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (LINCL), sometimes referred to as Batten Disease. Children affected by this fatal disease suffer mental impairment, worsening seizures and progressive loss of sight and motor skills. Overtime they become blind, bedridden and are unable to communicate. The Mary Payton Miracle Foundation helps provide funding for treatment to families whose lives are drastically altered due to this devastating disease.
  • Adopt-A-Family—Each year POOLCORP adopts families to provide with gifts and food for the holiday season.
  • Tour de Cure—A series of fundraising cycling events held in 44 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Associations.
  • Angel’s Place—Provides a loving and caring environment for children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.
  • Blood Center—POOLCORP holds blood drives through The Blood Center, the primary supplier of blood, blood components and plasma derivatives to local hospitals throughout South Louisiana and parts of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
